At first I took this reference very poorly, and could even be accused to ranting and raving about religion in general and the intolerant bastards who penned the Old Testament in particular. On second thought, what the author is saying is that the Israelites were forbidden to eat rabbit. Now, if you give that a moment to sink in, that's very, very good for rabbits.
On third thought, calling a rabbit unclean is the sign of a depraved mind. Probably a Republikan.
